The President of the Republic of Estonia has awarded the Order of the White Star, 5th Class, to Mart Soo – jazz musician and lecturer at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre – in recognition of his enduring and outstanding contributions to Estonian music
and music education.

Composer and saxophonist Maria Faust also received high honours, having been awarded the Order of the White Star, 4th Class, by the Republic of Estonia. She was additionally recognised by the Danish royal family, which bestowed upon her the Knight’s Cross, 1st Class, of the Order of the Dannebrog in recognition of her internationally influential creative work.
